At least 66 Malawian Muslim women left on Tuesday for Zambia at the invitation of that country’s Supreme Council to perform Dawah at Taqwa Mosque in Lusaka.

Speaking before departure at Kanjedza Mosque, Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) Blantyre chairperson Aman Omar said the trip, sponsored by MAM vice-board chair Sidik Muhammad Mia, includes Muslim sisters from Blantyre, Chiradzulu and Chikhwawa.

“It has been an honour for our women to be invited to participate in Dawah in Lusaka, Zambia, at Taqwa Mosque,” said Omar.

Secretary for Kanjedza Mosque Sisters, Jamiar Lillie said the eight-day trip would provide an opportunity for the women to share religious principles of the two countries.

“This trip is important for us because we will share Islamic values and principles on our dressing code and other important issues and not forgetting the HIV and Aids.

“It will be a time to learn from each other how Dawah is performed both in Malawi and Zambia,” said Sister Lillie.
